Meet Richard & Maggie, Owners of The Original Happy Car

Richard & Maggie Shannon grew up a couple of blocks away from each other in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Chevy Chase, Maryland and have known each other for as long as they can remember. Maggie was friends with Richard’s sister Alix and was a frequent visitor to the Shannon’s house on Hesketh Street for birthday parties and rides in the rumble seat of Richard’s Dad’s 1934 Ford 5 window coupe.

Richard always had his eye on Maggie and Maggie always had his eye on Richard. But, it wasn’t until a chance encounter at Boston’s Logan Airport in 2002 where they were on the same flight to Atlanta that things got moving in the right direction. After spending several months in the “friend zone” Richard was able be seen by Maggie as being something other than Alix’s little brother.

Fast forward two years of dating, a dream wedding on Cape Cod and the blessing of two beautiful children, Evan and Ellie Gray, we are now having a blast running our own business, The Original Happy Car.
